El Tashlij es una ceremonia que se celebra en Rosh HaShaná (Año nuevo), en su manera tradicional la ceremonia consistia en arrojar pedazos de comida o polvo que hay en las esquinas de la ropa al agua como símbolo del desprendimiento de la memoria de las malas acciones llevadas a cabo a lo largo del año. Es costumbre celebrar el Tashlij en lugares con agua y pescados como manantiales, rios y el Mar. Existe una diferencia conceptual entre el cristianismo y el judaismo respecto al "pecado". Para la tradición judía no existe el pecado sino el "desacierto", luego entonces es posible enmendarnos, pedir perdón y corregirnos.
Las fotografías de ésta serie fueron tomadas en la playa de Ashkelon con la comunidad Masorti Eshel Abraham de Beer Sheva. El Rabino de la comunidad, Mauricio Balter nos invitó a deshacernos de nuestros desaciertos en forma de burbujas y no en trozos de pan, cuando pregunté porqué de ésta forma su respuesta fue "porque me gustan los animales y no estoy de acuerdo en enviar a otros seres nuestros pecados, ni siquiera de forma simbólica". "En la concepcion moderna --como explica el Rabino Mauricio-- no arrojamos al agua y a los peces nuestras "desaciertos", sino que lo simbolizamos haciendo burbujas de jabón y a través de ellas simbolizamos haber revisado, identificado y eliminado de nuestras vidas los "desaciertos" del año transcurrido para poder comenzar el año de una manera nueva y sin cargas del año anterior.

The Tashlich is a ceremony that takes place on Rosh Hashanah (New Year). In their traditional way the ceremony consists of throwing pieces of food or dust from the corners of clothing in the water, as a symbol of release – the memory of the bad actions taken throughout the year. Tashlich is customary to celebrate in places with water and fish such as springs, rivers and the sea. There is a conceptual difference between Christianity and Judaism’s view of "sin". For the Jewish tradition there is no sin but rather "mistakes". You make amends, apologize and correct yourself.
The photographs in this series were taken on the beach of Ashkelon with the Masorti community Eshel Abraham from Beer Sheva. Rabbi Mauricio Balter invited us to get rid of our mistakes with bubbles and not pieces of bread. When asked why in this way his response was, "because I love animals and I do not agree to send our sins to others, even symbolically". In the modern conception --as Rabbi Mauricio explains-- not to throw into water and fish our "mistakes", but to rather symbolize it by making soap bubbles and having them checked, identified and removed from our lives – the "mistakes" from the past year in order to begin the year in a new way.

המסורתי כולל השלכה של פיסות מזון או אבק מפינות הבגדים למים, טקס המסמל את שיחרור הזיכרון של מעשים או פעולות לא טובות שהתרחשו במהלך השנה. באופן מסורתי טקס ה"תשליך" מתבצע בקרבת מקום למים ודגים כגון מעיינות, נהרות, או שפת הים. ישנו שוני מהותי בין היהדות והנצרות באופן ההתיחסות ל"חטא". על פי המסורת היהודית אין חטא אלא "טעות", על כן ניתן לתקן, להתנצל, ולהשיב את עצמך למוטב.
הצילומים בסידרה זו צולמו בחוף אשקלון עם הקהילה המסורתית "אשל אברהם" מבאר שבע. הרב מאוריסיו בלטר מזמין אותנו להתפטר מהטעויות שלנו כבועות ולא פיסות לחם, וכשנישאל לפשר דרכו השיב "מפני שאני אוהב חיות ואינני מסכים לשלוח לאחרים את החטאים שלנו, אפילו לא באופן סימלי. בתפיסה המודרנית איננו זורקים אל המים ואל הדגים את הטעויות שלנו, אך יצירתם של בועות סבון מסמלת, מזהה, ועוקרת את "הטעויות" שלנו מהשנה שעברה על מנת להתחיל את השנה החדשה באופן חדש, ולרוקן את השנה שעברה."
